On the Barcelona coast there are broader beaches with all kinds of services. Barcelona’s Beaches

There are 4.2 km of golden sandy beaches only 10 minutes from the city centre.

Mainly stresses the beach of Barceloneta. Is the first of the Barcelona beaches and can therefore get quite busy during the summer months.

All of Barcelona beaches are clean and well maintained. The sea water is clear and just right for taking a swim.

Costa Barcelona

The entire Barcelona metropolitan area, which includes towns near Barcelona, has 32 km of beaches in total stretching from Montgat north of Barcelona to Castelldefels south of the airport. The Costa Barcelona welcomes 9 million bathers a year. From the north to south coast of Barcelona city itself there are 9 beaches, which get over 3.5 million visits a year making them one of Barcelona’s top attractions. The beaches are crowded in the summer and particularly at the weekend, so get their early to find the best spots. In recent years the Barcelona city council has improved services on the beaches with extra waste bins, more than 200 people cleaning the beaches daily, and special beach police patrols to keep the beaches safe. There are around 60-65 Red Cross lifeguards with 2 boats always on duty during the main beach season in Barcelona.

Costa Brava

The Costa Brava is a 160 kilometer stretch of beautiful, rugged coastline in the region of Catalonia in the North East corner of Spain. Natural beauty, endless miles of sandy beaches and summer sunshine. You’ll find modern, international tourist resorts with high-rise hotels alongside unspoilt fishing villages, sheltered rocky coves and medieval towns with ancient castles.

The north coast of Catalunya is a coastline of craggy mountains with coves and beaches along more than 214 km of coastline extending from Portbou and Blanes, to Roses, L’Escala, Sant Feliu de Guixols and Lloret de Mar. The capital, Girona, invites you to stroll through the streets of the old Jewish Quarter, one of the most important cultural attractions of Catalunya. A unique territory that has attracted artists, intellectuals and tourists from around the world, the best known of which is Salvador Dali.

 

Costa Dorada

The Costa Dorada or Costa Daurada (The Golden Coast) The color of gold – soft, warm and bright – is predominant along the marine littoral in the southern part of Catalonia and has rightly given it the name of Costa Dorada (Golden Coast). The 20 towns that make up the Costa Dorada cover a marine littoral 216 kilometers long, 786 hectares of spacious beaches with clean fine sand and transparent shallow water.

Between the sea and the mountain range there are wide areas filled with peaceful towns and farmlands, where vineyards, olive groves, carobs, hazel trees and almond trees grow, and occasionally even vegetable gardens.

There are plenty of things to do on the beach besides swim. Windsurfing and kite surfing are popular. You can also enjoy a refreshing drink from one of the many beach huts. Or, if you’re in need of a rest, just lie down and soak up the warmth of the Spanish sun with a good book.
